The Local Cabaret is an attempt to imagine how bourgeois lifestyle could look like in a Western Belarus town in the 1930s, a sophisticated and volatile time between two wars, full of hope for freedom and happiness. The show includes songs by Marian Hemar, a Polish poet and cabaret director, poems by Julian Tuwim, music by Italian composers Luigi Denza and Gioachino Rossini together with popular songs by Viktar Šałkievič. Musical parts of the show are joined together with witty Yiddish anecdotic stories, shmontseses.
