The Local Cabaret is an attempt to imagine the way bourgeois lifestyle could look like in a Western Belarus town in the 1930s, a sophisticated, volatile and rich time between two wars filled with hope for freedom and happiness. The show includes songs by Marian Hemar, a Polish poet and cabaret director, and poems by Julian Tuwim, music by Italian composers Luigi Denza and Gioachino Rossini together with popular songs by Viktar Šałkievič. Music parts of the show are connected with witty Yiddish anecdotic stories, shmontseses.
